American Soldier
From a young age, I never thought I would join the armed forces. It wasn’t until my senior year that I felt so lost, and I was still at the crossroads of college and a career. Some said I had to go to college, while others said it was okay with either option. But honestly, I didn’t even know what I wanted to do until I decided to talk to a recruiter one day, and the rest was history. I joined the Army because I wanted to do something for my country. I wanted to do something in my lifetime that my family friends, and future kids would be proud of. So I took that leap of faith, raised my right hand, and swore to keep my country and friends safe. Fast forward, I went for my first deployment soon after marrying my husband. I was deployed to the Middle East, where I wouldn’t want to go on vacation, but I was home to camels and some decent food.
